The Front Range Cat Fanciers was founded in 1984 by Larry and Debbie Ritter of Loveland, Colorado. They operated the club producing the first FRCF cat show in Greeley, Colorado in 1987, and concluded their service to the club when they had passed shortly before their fourteenth cat show in 2001. Their annual cat show was a very popular event on the Colorado State University campus.

A small group of FRCF members, including Della Prather-Langton, Kelli Griffin, and Gary Shubert incorporated FRCF as a Colorado non-profit organization in 2001, and applied for 501 C(3) recognition as a charitable institution in 2002, receiving initial approval in 2003 and final approval in 2007, and making FRCF one of four 501 C(3) clubs in the Cat Fanciers Association. The members of FRCF produced 10 Valentines cat shows at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Brighton, Colorado, as fund raising events benefiting the Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance and the Cat Care Society of Denver. The FRCF Valentines shows raised a total of $65,250 generating grants to our beneficiaries to provide spay / neuter surgeries for feral cats, and complete care for homeless cats awaiting adoption. The FRCF helped our friends at the Wild Blue Yonder Cat Club, as they produced a Valentines cat shows at the Adams County Fairgrounds during the year that FRCF did not produce a show. The Colorado chapter of FRCF is proud to have produced the fifteenth through twenty-fifth shows, and appreciate the support of all of the exhibitors who made our shows the most successful in Colorado while helping over 1,000 homeless felines. The Valentines shows established the FRCF traditions of competitive judging classes, a fun and lively show hall atmosphere, tasty breakfasts, lunches and afternoon snacks, excellent raffle prizes, cash prizes for entering and filling the show, great vendors including chair massages, and strong spectator gate.

In 2015, the FRCF members decided to transition operations from Colorado to Houston, Texas. FRCF's twenty-sixth fund raising cat show has been co-produced with the CFA Gulf Shore Region. The Colorado and Texas chapters of the FRCF look forward to the future events as we resume annual show production benefiting the homeless cats of Texas.
